Math Mysteries and Drama Circles

If there is one thing Mrs. Samantha Kidwell has learned while teaching, it is that every student learns differently. Thanks to the Cissna Park Education Foundation, Mrs. Kidwell was able to purchase two tools to help the different learning styles in her classroom. The first item Mrs. Kidwell purchased was a set of 50 math mysteries.

“These math mysteries include clues that students have to solve using mathematical skills they have learned throughout the year,” she said. “Not only do they have to use math skills, but also the skill of teamwork since students work together to solve these mysteries.”

Mrs. Kidwell’s class has already solved several of the mysteries and Mrs. Kidwell loves to see them put their detective hats on and have fun! Mrs. Kidwell was also able to purchase more than 30 drama circles that her class can participate in.

According to Mrs. Kidwell, “Drama circles are fun, collaborative activities that can be used during drama activities, oral language activities, reading fluency practice, and cooperative learning activities.”
